Steve Jara - Elder

“I have a burden to see men grow to know and love Jesus daily, and allow God to use them for His will and good pleasure.”

In 1996 Steve, his wife Deirdre and their two children, Derek and Alexandra, moved to Hollister and soon found and became a part of Grace Bible Church. During their time at Grace, the Jara’s have continued to be deeply involved in numerous areas of ministry.

Steve became involved supporting Boys Summer Camp as a camp counselor and teacher to the Boys In Leadership Training program (BILT), and as a couple the Jara’s have served as youth leaders in the High School Youth Ministry for many years.

Steve’s love of books and desire to see men grow spiritually has also kept him building our bookstore ministry–Grace Resources. “When my stepfather past way, I was given a book as a gracious gift to encourage me. Little did I know that God would use that book to kindle a fire in a person who hated to read books!” Steve enjoys searching out books that encourage, challenge, teach, and are an aid in Bible reading. Today you’ll find dozens of great Christian titles to encourage you in your walk with Christ from respected and trusted Christian authors.

“My desire is to provide through the Resource Center, God honoring materials that encourage Christians in their relationship with Christ, and a deeper understanding of the God we serve and His revealed Word.”  Steve also currently helps oversee the men’s ministry and adult home fellowship Bible study groups and leads a weekly study.

“I have a burden to see men grow to know and love Jesus daily, and allow God to use them for His will and good pleasure.” Steve recognizes that as men, our responsibilities are difficult and challenging –that we need support to help us stay on track in our walk with Christ. “I enjoy helping others to a deeper understanding of God’s Word. My desire is to see God use Grace to reach San Benito County for the glory His name.”

During Steve’s leisure time he enjoys model trains, watching hockey and as rumor has it, serious long-distance bicycling.
