“for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:12-13
DTP is a class intended for the training of leaders.
The Discipleship Training Program at Grace Bible Church of Hollister is committed to the process of training men and women, “for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ,” (Eph 4:12-13) We recognize the importance of all believers to assume the biblical call on their lives and the leadership roles he has entrusted to each one of us and to be equipped to accomplish the ministries He has prepared for us, (Eph 2:10, 2 Tim 3:17).
God has given to each of us a particular role of leadership in those God has placed in our lives which may include a wife, children, other family members, fellow employees, colleagues, or any others God may place in our path for the purpose of ministry. The goal is to train all believers to be equipped with a deep knowledge of the true gospel and the ability to disciple and nurture those in our care toward a mature relationship with Christ.
The first year is labeled as “spiritual life,” and is dedicated to the biblical process of progressive sanctification. It consists of six main areas that first and foremost address the process of us understanding who we are before God and to be honest with our own spiritual state. The teaching is designed to help us to stop attempting to hide sinful tendencies from God, to repent of sin and allow God to freely continue to conform us into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29; Hebrews 4:12-13; Psalm 139:23-24). The study launches into separate tracks of men and women, looking closely at their individual roles as a godly husband and father, and wife and mother.
The first year is meant to prepare men and women to humbly apply these biblical truths and not just merely be an academic exercise. The doctrines are taught with a biblical overview of God’s sovereignty in the life of the believer, while the second year is designed around the ten major doctrines of the Scriptures, with the goal to provide a biblical view of a Christ-centered systematic theology that will lead to deeper worship and service of God.
Both classes have required reading and involve regular class participation to maximize the benefits from the instruction. For more information please call church office (831) 638-1394.
